Dog Training Methods
Dynamic Duo Dog Rescue views training as a vital tool in setting dogs up for success in both foster and adoptive homes. Training helps build strong bonds between people and dogs, increases adoptability, and provides families with the tools they need to maintain a loving, well-adjusted pet. Dynamic Duo fully supports the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) position on humane dog training, which emphasizes the use of positive reinforcement methods. We do not support the use of aversive tools or punishment-based training techniques, including those that cause pain, fear, or intimidation. Instead, we encourage and require the use of reward-based strategies that reinforce desirable behaviors and build trust. Every foster or adopter is encouraged to keep high-value reinforcers (like treats, toys, or praise) readily available to help build positive associations and successful learning moments. When behavioral concerns arise, we work alongside credentialed, force-free trainers and certified behavior consultants to provide tailored guidance specific to the dog’s needs and history. Our top priorities are always safety, compassion, and long-term success in the home.
Spay / Neuter
Dynamic Duo Dog Rescue supports spaying and neutering whenever medically appropriate to help reduce the number of homeless animals and prevent unnecessary euthanasia. All dogs in our care are spayed or neutered before adoption whenever possible, based on age, health, and available veterinary appointments. In cases where a dog is placed in a foster or adoptive home before being spayed or neutered, the foster or adopter is required to stay in close communication with us to ensure the procedure is completed in a timely manner. We do not offer reimbursement if the spay/neuter is done independently, as we are always at the mercy of our veterinary partners and the availability of our volunteers. We understand that not everyone is fully aware of the impact of overpopulation, and we are committed to educating—never alienating—our community. Through compassionate conversation and outreach, we aim to promote responsible pet ownership and create lasting change for animals in need.
Responsible Dog Ownership
Dynamic Duo Dog Rescue believes dogs are family and should be treated with the same love, care, and respect. Anyone caring for a dog has the responsibility to lead by example and ensure their pet is well-behaved, safe, and able to thrive in their home environment. We also believe it is every caregiver’s duty to uphold the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare:
Freedom from hunger and thirst
Freedom from discomfort
Freedom from pain, injury, or disease
Freedom to express normal behavior
Freedom from fear and distress
While we always strive for lifelong placements, we understand that life circumstances can change. In these cases, we advocate for responsible rehoming and encourage open communication to ensure the dog’s safety and well-being.
